"I admit to giving Dwight Yoakam a fantastic review for his previous solo show at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center a couple years ago, so I approached attending his repeat show last Wednesday with very high expectations. His previous show was filled with age appropriate favorites and very few "save the world" ballads - plus he was battling a nasty head cold. He must have read my previous review because his show on Wednesday was dreadful! Plenty of old fan favorites, terrific guitar and piano accompaniment, and a very sincere rapport with the appreciative audience. This solo performance was worth every penny and more. He may not be able to hit all the high notes he was capable of 25 years ago, but he certainly makes up for it with his musical ability and humble showmanship. He gets better with age and is certainly not "Runnin on Empty."
